Terms and Conditions
To begin, here is LEND A PET’s definition of a ‘Lender’, ‘Borrower’ and a ‘Pet’:
Pet- A pet is a domesticated, trained, and tame animal that is owned by an individual or group of individuals for a number of reasons including, but not limited to; companionship, health, to entertain their children, etc.
Any dispute/s between the Lender, Borrower and any third party is to be resolved by the Lender and/or Borrower. LEND A PET will not be responsible for finding a solution, settling, and/or offering an outcome to any issue, accident, injury or difficulty that has occurred prior, during, or post the LEND A PET experience. You accept and agree that LEND A PET and the Site provides a platform for activated Members, and non-activated Members, to negotiate their own terms and conditions upon lending and/or borrowing a pet or a number of pets. LEND A PET do their best to check every profile that is created via the Site, this is a lengthy process so please understand that we must first complete this process before we can provide you with any information relating to a potential Lender and/or Borrower. There is no specific timeframe for the LEND A PET information security screening process, it varies case to case, so understand that you must be patient.
LEND A PET do their best to find you the right match based on the information you have provided within your profile, however, once LEND A PET have provided you with a potential Lender and/or Borrower, LEND A PET will not be responsible for anything beyond that point. Please note that LEND A PET will ask you to confirm whether or not you allow LEND A PET to share parts of the information from your profile, this includes; your first name, your suburb, what pet you own, what pet you want to borrow, your reason for lending and/or borrowing, and your mobile number. LEND A PET will also send you a Must-Read Checklist if LEND A PET are aware of your scheduled lending and/or borrowing dates for you to read, understand, name, date, sign and email back to LEND A PET, this document includes, but is not limited to a list of points and questions to consider prior to lending and/or borrowing. Please ensure you request this document prior to lending and/or borrowing if it has not been sent to you. If you have been instructed by LEND A PET to fill out and return the Must-Read Checklist, and you have failed to do so prior to lending and/or borrowing, LEND A PET have the option of cancelling your meeting with the Lender and/or Borrower.
The annual $49.99 activation fee will not be deducted automatically from your account on a yearly basis. Once a year is over, from the moment that you activated your account, you will need to re-enter your details via the PayPal portal on the Site.
LEND A PET is not required to find lending and/or borrowing opportunities for non-activated Members. Furthermore, if you are an activated Member (you have paid the $49.99 annual activation fee) and if LEND A PET have offered you one or more potential borrowing opportunities and you have declined the offer/s for any reason, you must accept that LEND A PET is not required to continue presenting you with opportunities. If you decline the opportunity to borrow a pet because of; animal type, breed, hair colour, travel distance, or size, LEND A PET will not provide you with a refund. It is your responsibility to email LEND A PET and request a lending and/or borrowing opportunity, LEND A PET will then try to find you a lending and/or borrowing opportunity and email you to see if you are interested. LEND A PET cannot guarantee that all activated Members will receive a lending and/or borrowing opportunity from LEND A PET, but LEND A PET will do its best to seek out such opportunities. LEND A PET does not give refunds. If you are unhappy with the service that you have received from LEND A PET please send LEND A PET an email and LEND A PET will try and resolve your issue. If you would like to cancel your membership, we ask that you please email LEND A PET with your reason for cancellation. Please note that the profile activation fee of $49.99 will not be refunded. Complaints must be communicated through the Contact page via the Site, however please note, that by agreeing to these Terms and Conditions you accept that for any complaint made, there is no guarantee of a resolution.
LEND A PET highly encourage Members to organise a meeting prior to any lending and/or borrowing. If you decide to borrow and/or lend, please ensure you have provided LEND A PET and the other person/s involved with; correct contact details, information about your pet, information regarding any medical or dietary conditions/requirements, an understanding of where they will be taking your pet and who will be around your pet, negotiate and confirm the timeframe, provide an emergency contact, etc. These are just a few examples of factors that you should consider prior to lending and/or borrowing, it is important that every Member creates their own list of important factors to consider and questions to ask prior to lending and/or borrowing. By accepting these Terms and Conditions you also agree to allowing LEND A PET to share your first name, reason for lending and/or borrowing, your email address, mobile number and suburb with other Members, activated and non-activated. Once LEND A PET shares this information, it is up to you to confirm lending and/or borrowing details, e.g. date, time, length of borrowing/lending time, etc.
LEND A PET will not provide any Member, activated or non-activated, with any opportunities to lend and/or borrow until the Member’s profile is completed to a satisfactory level. If your profile details do not match your PayPal and Facebook details, and you have not provided any other form or proof of identification, understand that LEND A PET will not provide you with any lending and/or borrowing opportunities, even if you have paid the activation fee. LEND A PET aim to build a safe and friendly community and therefore LEND A PET must save all of the information you have provided on file. The information you have provided may also be used for marketing and advertising purposes.
Borrowers and Lenders should not be requesting any forms of payment from each other when lending and/or borrowing. The only payment involved in the lending/borrowing process is the annual activation fee via the Site. If another Member requests payment please contact LEND A PET immediately.
If you are aged under 18 and wish to create and activate a LEND A PET profile, please ensure you speak to your parents or legal guardian/s. If your parents or legal guardians approve of you becoming a LEND A PET community Member, after they have visited the Site and read all of the information that is available, they need to email LEND A PET a copy of a hand-written consent letter, written and signed by them, that includes the following; parent’s or legal guardian’s full name, the date that the letter was written and sent, parent’s or legal guardian’s address, parent’s or legal guardian’s signature, a paragraph written by the parents or legal guardians detailing that they will be with the underage Member during every lending and/or borrowing experience in order to assist them in risk evaluation and confirmation that the parents or legal guardians will supervise the underage Member throughout the entire borrowing and/or lending process. Also include in the letter that the parents or legal guardians will monitor all emails and any other form of communication between LEND A PET and other Members of the LEND A PET community. The parents or legal guardians must confirm that they allow and accept full responsibility if any incidents or accidents occur that involve the underage Member, the pet/s, and any other third party involved during the entire LEND A PET process.
LEND A PET expects all Members to be truthful and accurate when communicating and negotiating with other Members and with LEND A PET staff. If you purposely provide LEND A PET with incorrect information, or you provide LEND A PET with a reason to deem you untrustworthy (the basis of the reason is determined by LEND A PET), understand that you will not be refunded and you will not be provided with lending and/or borrowing opportunities.
